Disney's golden oak village

Well, I don't update very often, but when I do it's big Disney news. Disney has started to create new high end homes on Disney property on Bay Lake close to the Magic Kingdom. With purchase of the homes you get in-park amenities such as VIP transportation and invites to special events. Have I started packing, you ask? No. You need $25,000 deposit just to put your name in the running for the 30 homes being sold this year. After that they cost anywhere from $1 million to $8 million. Ashley's Disney Trip

You know you're a obsessed with Disney when.....

You know you're a obsessed with Disney when you're sister calls calls you in NH from the Morocco pavilion in Epcot to ask what time the Illumination fireworks begin? Of course, I knew. Ashley got the opportunity to go to Disney World for a student nursing conference. While she did go to most of the conference they didn't require her to attend anything. (I knew I should have become a nurse!) I am happy for her and could have really gone if I wanted to, but $1,000 for one weekend didn't seem worth it....until now. She spent Thursday in Epcot and today she'll be in Animal Kingdom, not to mention the beautiful Coronado Springs hotel she's staying at with the great pool. I'm trying to live vicariously through her, but it keeps turning into envy. She is the best sister ever....but only because she's bringing back two pairs of Mickey shoes slipper to replace our old holey ones! I'll post her pics as soon as I get some. For now here's one from when she traveled to Disney for my wedding. Have a magically time, Ash!

To Infinity (or at least Venus) and Beyond!

Last weekend I saw Karen's beautiful book she printed out directly from her blog. I was so jealous that she had a record of the last two years of her family's life. It inspired me to start blogging yet again.

On Friday Rick and I went the the Skywatch held at the McAuliffe Shepard Discovery center (formerly the Christa McAuliffe Planitarium). People set up their telescopes on the lawn for free and let you look at the stars the first Friday of every month. We set up our $30 telescope from Toys 'r' Us and invited my class the their families to join us since we are studying stars and constellations. Nine of my students and their families joined us! What a great turn out, especially considering this is a holiday weekend. The kids started going crazy trying to identify stars and constellations as soon as the stars started appearing. Venus, a planet not star, came out first. Thank goodness for Rick's Google star map on his phone. He just pointed it at a star and it told him which star it was and and constellation it was in. My students even pointed out that one of the stars was red, which turned out to be Mars. All the people there was so nice to my class and helped explain things and answer any questions. Rick even got our little telescope focused on Saturn and we saw it's rings! It was an exciting and rewarding night for me as a teacher. My students were excited and motivated to learn on a Friday night!

My Give A Day, Get a Disney Day Project

My sister and I did our Give A Day, Get a Disney Day volunteering. We made no sew fleece blankets. Rick even helped tie up the edges. Here's how it came out! I will probably donate my ticket to a charity, but Ashley may be able to use her when she goes to her nursing conference in Disneyworld. Bum!
